21upcycling was founded in 2020 by a team of experienced and enthusiastic scientists and managers with the goal of developing innovative composites that enable the upcycling of biological waste materials into new sustainable products that are recycable.
We made our first attempts by using spect coffee grounds and an innovative new binder and produced the first prototype materials and proof of concepts. We knew at that time, that we have something special in our hands.
In 2021 we spent most of our time developing the processes and materials, whilst working on our various patent fillings.
In 2022 we started to launch our first products and engaged in various partnerships across multiple industries, including the merchandise and music instrument industry.
With the launch of our coffee bass and guitars in April 2022, we presented for the first time instruments made from recycled chopsticks, spent coffee grounds, plastic coated papers and denim.
We exhibited at several music instrument fairs across Europe and received overwhelming feedback, so we decided to bring these instruments to market.
In parallel we created other end consumer products, such as bags, chairs, tables and many many more.
